Special Baby card

Hello

Today I thought I'd show you a Special New Baby card for a baby who was desperately wanted.

This is the end result with the envelope I made as well, using Crafter's Companion Envelobox, as I needed it to have a little bit of depth.  I used Centura Hint of Silver card and  cut a couple of sticky velcro dots to close it.

I had cardboard cutouts of the letters to make 'baby' and thought it would make a lovely card.  I am sorry I can't remember where I got it from as I've had it for quite a few years.  

I cut out the letters using Bazzil card stock as I didn't want it to be too thick and heavy. You can see the letters have an extra length of card so you can punch holes in to fix the card together.   

I then cut out matching papers and used the template again to cut out the letters, attaching the paper on top of the card as I wanted.  

I added a bit of ribbon too to delineate between the end of the paper and where the letter begins.

This is the back of the letter 'B' which I covered too.

I decorated the plain letters with some faux stitching, using a fine marker pen to make them stand out more.

On the back of the card, on the 'Y' template part of the card I stamped the Crafters Companion baby stamp onto white card, coloured it in using my watercolour pencils and matted it with darker card.

I had a few little baby stickers in my stash so added them to the various letters, adding some Glossy Accents onto parts of the paper.

I used matching ribbon to thread through the holes and tied little knots on each one, which you can see on the finished card picture at the top of the blog.

I thoroughly enjoyed making this card and I hope the receiver was pleased with it too.

One for the ladies

Hi

Having found the Loralie Art Stamps I must show you this one which I thought was perfect for a lady who loves to shop or party!  This one is called Party Girl, but I think it could be shopping or partying.  The stamps are just that little bit quirky.

Again I used my water colour pencils to colour the stamp and then matted the image onto green card.

I do like my Hougie board which makes it so easy to draw straight lines using it onto Centura card.  It is such an easy background to make and is something different.  I matted  this onto green card again and then popped it onto a plain card.  I added some matching card candy and I was done.

This time the main stamp comes with several smaller stamps  such as flowers, bows and parcels so I added a parcel onto the inside leaf of the card.  I think it makes the card look that little bit special, don't you?

Another card for men

Hi there

Here's another men's card using Crafters Companion 'Just for Men' range of dies and embossing folders.

I showed this card to a friend of mine and she has asked me to make one for her.  She is  going to America and whilst there it will be the birthday of the son of her friend.  She doesn't  know his interests or hobbies so she wants something masculine.  This seems to fit the bill. 

I made the card with black card stock   Using the Clocks embossing folder I embossed some Centura card and also some black card.  I cut out parts of the clocks from the black card and put silver gilding wax onto it.  I then placed them on top of the embossed clocks. 

Another of the Just for Men dies is a set of cog wheels in different sizes and shapes so I cut various out onto black card and also onto silver mirri.

i also used the Happy Birthday die and cut it in the black card.

I placed the cogs on to the centura embossed card and the sentiment too.  I put a couple of cogs on top of the other, just to make a different shape.

I thought this card could be used both for a man or anyone who is interested in 'steam punk'.

Another trellis card

Hello again

Again I have made another trellis card using Sara Davies' blog ideas.  In my previous blog I showed you the original trellis card I had made.

This time I used some backing paper from my stash  and the same floral and flourish dies as in my previous blog.

I also used the Crafters' Companion 'With Love' Floral Delights die.  The flowers and words were made with Centura card.

I used some very tiny pearl drops for the centre of the flowers which I had in my stash and also some Gold Pearl Liquid Pearls in opposite corners of the card.

I stamped 'Happy Birthday' inside on the insert.

Birthday Train

Hello again

This is a card I made for my two grand-sons (not at the same time!).  One was in Australia and one was here in England, so no comparing.

I used my favourite lady, Jayne Nestorenko's, stamps.  This time from her Cute Companions range, Playtime.  I love this set of stamps, full of childhood nostalgia.

I stamped all the characters I wanted from the set onto Centura card.  Then I painted them, using my water-colour pencils.  

The tricky bit was cutting them all out as some of the items, especially the train wheels were very fiddly.  I think they came out OK though.

The best bit was placing all the characters in different poses until I was satisfied.  I then used Collall decoupage glue raising them up off the page.

The backing paper comes from the Cute Companions CD from Crafters Companion and the stamp is Woodware Circular Greetings.

I was very pleased with the card.

Kimono

Hello

I bought Marilyn Robertson's beautiful Kimono Papercrafting CD, together with a fan and a peacock die from Crafters Companion a few months ago.  

Both the papers and the dies are really beautiful and I have enjoyed using them very much.  The first card I made was for my daughter and son-in-law on their fifth wedding anniversary.  I do love white on white cards and I felt this worked out very well but I did use a little silver gilding wax.

I used the Diesire A6 Create a Card Daisy Dreams Die and Centura card.

This card was made using papers from the Kimono CD, the Kimono Paper Moon stamp. I used silver embossing powder and decorated it with Liquid Pearls.

I also made the same card but using different backing papers and was surprised at how different the cards looked.  The backing paper was in my stock otherwise everything is the same.

With my last card made using Kimono products I used the lantern embossing folder, paper from the CD and the Butterfly Silk stamp set.  Again I used my watercolour pencils to colour her in.
