What time do you call this ??

As you may know my eldest son Chris lives in Australia.  Every Sunday morning we Skype each other and I get to see my other grandchildren getting ready for bed.  Unfortunately now the hour has gone back their bathtime is 7pm which makes it 8am our time!  As I've said before I don't 'do' early and because I can see them, they can see me so I've got to look at least reasonable and also be dressed!  Well this morning I overslept a bit and it was 7.45 before I got up!  So I've been rushing around like a blue a***d fly - even managed to get a cup of tea ready to bring upstairs.  Then a text - 'sorry mum we've lost the camera, can't find it anywhere.  we'll speak next week instead'!!  You can imagine the words I said.  So here I am at 8.30am (such an unearthly hour for me!) with nothing to do!  Hey ho, back to the cards then!

You'll know now we didn't go ahead with the card class, too much short notice, but I'm probably showing the acetate card for those who want to see it at the next crop.

Last Christmas I had some Christmas cards left over and although I am enjoying making my cards I'm certainly not planning to send everyone (50 -ish) one of my own cards!  But can I find these left over cards?  I flippin' well can't.  Where the heck have I put them?  I'm going to have to buy some more as I'm running out of time.  I've printed off my labels but must write them. 

I'm not a great lover of Christmas - I love the kids' faces and all that but the commercialism of it all really gets to me. 

I've done quite a few more cards over the last week - with the weather being so foul, I've enjoyed playing with the cards. 

This card I borrowed the idea from a card I saw at Ali Pali last year.  It uses the Creative Expressions Christmas tree and I've added the Cute Companions mouse, presents and flower pot.  I used Brushed Corduroy distressed ink and then water coloured the outline. 

This card I was pleased with.  I bought some Hero Arts' stamps from my friend and thought I'd have a play.  I embossed the stamps in gold and silver embossing powder and then matted them on alternate silver and gold shiny board.  You can't see it very well but I've covered the card with some gorgeous Mica Pearl Papers I bought at the workshop I went to and finished it off with very fine gold peel offs.

And finally, this one I thought was quite cute.  I used free templates from one of the magazines, some card blanks I'd had from last year which I cut down and voila!!  Quite a cute card which cost me nothing.  Happy with that.

Right I'm off now to do some more cards - actually I might go via my bed first, but we'll see which has the stronger pull!  Speak soon.  Byeee xx

Christmas card workshop

Hello

I've just finished this card off tonight.  This is one of the class cards we did at the Workshop I went to on Sunday.  It is a 3- card with the sparkling Christmas tree printed off from the Winter Tales CD, then cut out, glittered with Pee Wee crystal and Polar White flower soft,  fixed on the last step with foam pads.  The reindeer is stamped using the Cute Companions Christmas Cheer stamp, painted with H2Os and glittered with Pee Wee glitters fixed on the middle step. The sleigh also stamped from the same stamp set onto red and gold mirror board using gold embossing powder and glittered crystal glitter again.  The background is a paper from the same CD.  The whole card is then put into a 'glass bubble' made from thick acetate.  Very effective, don't you think?

I've got another couple of cards I did at the Workshop to show you but I'll upload those later, so you're not inundated all in one go!!

This opens up from the middle upwards and we're back to the beginning again.  Clever isn't it?  All the papers are from the Cute Companions Christmas CD and the little 'people' are from the Winter Tales' stamps from Jayne Nesterenko.

I'm back!

Well no 1 son has gone back to Australia now!  Bit sad to see him go but I'll see him again in February so not too far away.  We had a lovely time - very hectic 5 days - but he saw everyone he wanted to, so that was good.  Consequently not done much card making but have been having a bit of a play with my new Cute Companions stamps.  Not quite got the hang of them, so nothing to show just yet.
However, I've got pictures of other cards I've done so I'll get some of them together.

This a card I did for my ex-husband's 60th birthday (don't ask!).  I put in the shrink plastic pair of slippers as a sarcastic gesture which I'm sure was lost on him, but I liked it, especially as he's older than me!  Again it is good old Cute Companions number stamps which I do like and some of the Christmas stamps too.

This is one of those hidden cards where you pull each side and get three cards in total and use a plastic bag for the mechanism.  I saw it demonstrated a while ago on Create and Craft.  This is how it looks when you get it:

I've used Little Claire duck stamps and coloured with sakura glaze pens and used yellow flock for texture.  I was quite pleased with it.

Well, I've done it again!!!!

Yep, I've done it again! Cute Companions presented the new Winter stamps and CDs and guess what, yes, I couldn't resist. I've ordered them all! I just daren't add up how much I've spent on all the stamps and CDs I've got now. Its horrendous, but I still say, I've got to get them all whilst I'm still working and before I retire! Can't wait now for them to arrive.
