Treasure Box

Hello

Today I would like to show you a Treasure Box I made for a friend of mine.  I took the template from www.marielovescrafting.blogspot.co.uk and I think its very effective.

It takes time but is quite straight forward and surprisingly sturdy.  A friend of mine admired the one I made and asked if I could make one for a Welsh friend of hers.

I had a Creative Expressions stamp of a dragon and also one of their medallions, which I thought were fairly appropriate for a Welsh person (!)

and then I used  Woodware stamps for the flower and an owl. These went on the four sides outside the box.

I stamped them using StazOn ink and then used Pee Wee glitters to decorate each of the stamps.  If I say so myself, they looked pretty special!

My friend was over the moon with it and I believe her friend was too.  These would be ideal to put little treats in for Christmas or for trinket boxes too.

thank you for looking.

Hunky Dory cards (again!)

Hello

After my previous post showing you a Hunky Dory card it triggered my interest in other cards I could make with the many collections I have in my stash!

I thought these pictures were rather cute and made this card for my daughter's birthday.  She seemed to think it was good and my grandchildren thought I was very clever!!

I do like Hunky Dory cards as they do make a professional card without much work from you!!

Thank you for looking.

Birthday card

Hello

When I was sorting out one of my shelves in my craft room I came across quite a few HunkyDory packs of card and toppers which I am ashamed to say had been there for quite a while!

Although this comes from a Christmas selection I thought this would make a beautiful birthday card for my daughter-in-law's Grandmother's 92nd birthday.

I haven't used HunkyDory designs very often but I must say I think they make some very impressive cards, don't you?

When I gave her the card she was overwhelmed and couldn't believe I had made the card myself.  Very flattering!

Thank you for looking

Candle box

Hello

Sharon from Whoopsiedaisy is raising money for a little girl called Megan to buy her a speaking machine, similar to Stephen Hawkins.  Sharon has asked the ladies of her sewing group to make things to sell for Megan.

We have all sewn little items or made cards for Megan's mother to sell at craft fairs.  I decided to  make some of these little candle boxes.  I have taken the template from Crafters' Companion Projects and adapted it slightly.

I have used a Christmas Die'sire Edgebilities on the outside of the card and decorated it with some HunkyDory toppers slightly raised.

I have used Centura Pearl card stock to make the card and box.  The little tea lights I had in the house and they fit perfectly.

I have also made a box using Crafters Companion Enveloper to protect the writing.  I intend to make quite a few more as I have more tea lights.

Thank you for looking.

Wedding card

When my son was married I wanted to make a special card for him and his wife.  This is what I decided on.

I used various embellishments and peel offs which I had in my stash.  I've had them for such a long time I'm afraid I can't remember where I got them.  I used the polka dots embossing folder from Crafters Companion.  The stamp was lent to me by a friend which I embossed in silver.

Thank you for looking.

Medallion stamps

Hello

Many people ask 'what made you start card-making?"  I can clearly remember what started me off.

I had already started scrapbooking through my interest in Family History and would watch Create and Craft now and again.  I happened to be watching one day when the lovely Jayne Nestorenko was on showing her medallion stamps from Creative Expressions.  I was totally fascinated and hooked.  She made it look so simple, which it was, once you realised how it was done.

You can obtain many medallion stamps all of different designs and each one will make many different designs.

This one was one of the first I did.  I used the stamp called Heart Lace.  You simply stamp the one stamp several times on different coloured card.  I used red and black and stamped using Versamark and white embossing powder.  You then cut out any of the shapes you can see in the stamp making each shape smaller than the previous one and alternating the coloured card.  Some of the layers can be glued flat and then, to get perspective, use Collall Decoupage Gel.

This one I used Versamark with silver embossing powder, Pee Wee glitters and red and pink card.  I am afraid I don't know the name of this stamp. The glitter is applied using Art Glitter Adhesive and it is easier if you can obtain a small nozzle on the glue bottle as you 'draw' the glue in between the lines of the embossed stamp.

I love this stamp.  It is called 'Snowflake' is very versatile.  Here I have used Versamark with gold embossing powder, black and white card and gold glitter.  It is very classy, isn't it?  I have also made it on acetate too and it looks very effective.

Here I have used three different coloured card in soft colours and it totally changes the medallion, doesn't it?  It is still the same principle,  just alternating three colours.

This uses three coloured cards but much more dramatic.  I do love the colour combination of red, white and black, don't you?

This one is stamped with Staz-on ink on the back and glittered using Pee Wee glitters.  Glue and glitter it from the back of the acetate.  At first it looks wrong as you can only see the white glue but as the glue dries it goes clear and the glitters show through.

Well that's all for now.

Thank you for looking.

Pop up boxes

Hello again

Today i thought I'd show you some pop up boxes I have made.  I'm not sure 'pop up' box is the correct term but I think it describes what I've made.

A friend of mine asked me to make a card for a wedding they were going to.  I thought I'd do something unusual and saw this idea.  I'm afraid I can't remember where I got the template from but it was from the internet.  I am not taking credit for it.

I first started by making the box out of plain card and then I embossed some Crafters Companion Centura white card with some of their embossing folders; the small dotty one, the small heart one and a Sheena Douglas embossing folder.

I put embossed card on both the sides of the boxes as well as on the flaps and then used the Die'sire decorated butterfly, heart and flowers dies cut on card.  Using embossed card strengthens the box very well.

My friend seemed very pleased with the card and I was happy with the way it turned out.  The beauty of this card is that you can fold the box side-ways and it fits into an A6 envelope.  Very handy.

I'll put an example of the same sort of box but using different decoration and how different it looks in a later post.

Thank you for looking.
